Loan Periods

 

Reminder: You MUST have your library card with you in order to check out.

Items which have been checked out may be kept for varying periods of time, depending on the item.

4 weeks: adult and children's general fiction and non-fiction; audiocassettes (sets of more than 2 tapes); adult and juvenile new fiction (over 500 pages), new adult non fiction.
2 weeks: Non-feature Film Videocassettes; Non-feature Film DVDs; book/cassettes; compact discs; adult new fiction (under 500 pages); magazines; holiday books; pamphlets; HOUR-A-DAY bags; CD-ROMs.
1 week: Feature Film Videocassettes; Feature Film DVDs; 

The quantity of items that can be checked out per card is limited depending on the item.

Reserves

Any cardholder may reserve (be put on a waiting list) any library item which is checked out. Up to fifteen (15) items may be reserved. No item may be reserved by or for a specific date. 
Cardholders will be notified by telephone (or e-mail) when reserved items are available for their use.
Once a cardholder has been contacted regarding the availability of a reserved item, that item will be held for seven (7) working days.
If a cardholder has forgotten his/her library card, but would like the items held while retrieving the card, such items will be held for three (3) working days. A maximum of fifteen (15) such items will be held.

Renewals

Any library item not overdue may be renewed for an additional loan period provided that there are no reserves on that item. An item may be renewed only once. Renewals can be done either in person or over the telephone.
Not withstanding the above, any library materials which are overdue may be renewed for an additional loan period. The renewal must be done in person with the materials in hand, and the fine must be paid. Overdue library materials may not be renewed over the telephone.
